The Potty Book For Boys

The Potty Book For Boys

A toddler’s graduation from diapers to the potty is always a very important moment–and one to make parents and toddlers proud! In this book, Henry needs to have his diaper changed so he can go out and play. Then Mom and Dad bring a big box home, and Henry is anxious to open it up and see what’s inside. Is it a rocking chair? A bed for Teddy? No, it’s a potty–which means it’s time for Henry to graduate from diapers. This gentle and humorous little story is charmingly illustrated and told in verse. Little boys will enjoy looking at the pictures and having the story read to them. Meanwhile, they’ll start getting the idea that it’s time for them to grow up, exactly like Henry. So that at last, they’ll be able to say: “I’m off to the potty, No more diapers for me! And I feel great, I am proud of … ME! Here’s a pleasant and effective new way to begin a child’s toilet training. Barron’s also publishes a potty book for a little girl, starring Hannah. (Ages 1-4)

5 Stars A GREAT INTRODUCTION TO POTTY TRAINING
I BOUNGT MY GRANDSON THE FISHER PRICE POTTY BUDDY AND ENCLUDED THIS BOOK WITH THE PURCHASE. I DECIDED GIVING A FEW BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT ALONG WITH THE CHAIR WILL HELP HIM UNDERSTAND WHAT A POTTY IS FOR. HE LOVES BEING READ TO AND SEEING THIS BOOK IS MADE OF STURDY ‘CARDBOARD’, IT’LL LAST. I REALLY THINK THE BOOK HELPED HIM UNDERSTAND A LITTLE MORE THAN JUST SHOWING HIM OURSELVES.

5 Stars Really helped
This is the only book we bought about potty training for our little boy. He’s now long since potty trained, at a relatively early age, and this book deserves some of the credit. First, it’s very attractively written and illustrated; our little boy liked it and requested it frequently when we were going through potty training. Second, it actually seemed to help him think about what was going on in potty training. We had already started sitting him on the pot and asking if he needed to go, etc., before getting this book, and he was sort of at a progress plateau, but when we got this book, it did seem to make something click and I think he made more noticeable progress after that. A month or two after we got the book he was to the point where we could take off the diapers entirely (at home). He seemed to get a big kick out of “Bye-bye pee! Bye-bye poop!” As you can see, it speaks in honest terms about pee and poop but isn’t unnecessarily scatalogical.

5 Stars Great Book for Potty Training
We love this book for potty training. Our son loves it and it is a really great book for boys. I would recommend this book to everyone I know that has boys that are about to start potty training. It has helped us out ALOT.

4 Stars Served its purpose
We got this for our son and he seemed to like it. It covers a good amount of material but I would not call it straight forward instructions. It’s a story about a boy and how he learns how to use the potty and so we used it to talk to our son about him using his potty chair.

5 Stars The Best and Funniest!!!
Buy this book, you won’t regret it.

Not only is it great in telling a story to kids about using the potty, but it’s darn comical and the pictures are cute.

Even the verses rhyme!!!!

ABCs of Newborn Baby Care

ABCs of Newborn Baby Care

ABC’s of Newborn Baby Care is a highly informative DVD on how to care for your healthy newborn. Doctor recommended, this ‘how to’ DVD is led by a professional baby nurse with over 25 years experience.

Covering everything from bathing to dressing to nursery safety, it is divided into 18 easily searchable chapters. The methods and techniques of the professional baby nurse are shown in detailed close-up, providing an exceptionally detailed reference work.

ABC’s of Newborn Baby Care is for ANYONE preparing to have or care for a new baby in his or her life.

2 Stars Very Minimal tips on baby care
This is rated so well, that I had to watch it. However, my husband and I were very disappointed with it’s content.

It was made in 2004, and a nurse or baby-specialist takes a new mom through several basics of baby care. While the video itself it not as cheesy as some i’ve seen, still fits into my cheesy category.

If you’ve never held a baby and you don’t want to be overwhelmed with your first baby video, then by all means watch this.

But if you’re wanting to know everything thing you need on the basics of taking care of a newborn- this is not the video. For instance, on the diapering section- she only diapers a boy, and does not cover that for a girl, you must wipe down and not up as to prevent getting feces in the vaginal area. And she doesn’t cover any types of diaper rash ointments…. only says to use vaseline. If she’s against using any other ointments she should at least give her opinion as to why.

One section shows how to wash bottles. Seriously? So new parents have also never washed dishes? Parts of this video were quite cheesy.

I gave it two stars instead of one because i did like the sections on swaddling, burping, and sponge bathing.

This video was way too basic, and I wouldn’t even recommend renting it, as it would just be a waste.

2 Stars Skip it if you’ve already done some research…
We’re expecting our first baby in July and watched this DVD hoping to get some basic newborn care, as the DVD implies. However, as other reviewers have noted, this DVD is way too basic with nothing described in much detail. I suppose this DVD would be good for thinking about things you might need, or what to expect, but I was surprised, for a video made in 2004 it felt like it was made in the early 80’s. The DVD it very generic, scripted, and seems a bit modest. It doesn’t cover actual issues with breastfeeding, just one small example of how to unlatch a baby by using your finger (never mind that the baby is just sitting in the mothers lap not breastfeeding).

I wouldn’t say this was a terrible DVD, but it felt like one of those movies your forced to watch during a parenting class where the instructor has a book and pauses the video at the end of each chapter to add further discussion.

So I’d recommend this DVD to parents who haven’t done any research, who have no idea, and need something to get started with.

3 Stars ABCs is right… this is BASIC stuff.
I’m about to become a first-time dad. My wife is about to become a first time mom. We needed to start out at the basics, and it’s harder to get more basic than “ABCs,” so we watched it together.

There’s no question that this was certainly basic. It seems to have been geared towards first time moms whose first question at the doctor’s office was is “wait a minute… the baby comes out where?” Very, very basic stuff… but good info.

The actual film was akin to the driest health class video you can remember from high school. The inexperience evident in the directing and camera work would seem to suggest that some similarly naive questions were asked on the set: “now that’s not right… which end of the camera am I supposed to be looking into?” The acting… there really wasn’t any. The nurse did most of the talking, and while knowledgeable she was clearly terrified of the camera.

If it’s as bad as all that, how did it earn a three star rating? There really was some very good information in there that is sure to prove invaluable in the months to come. Enough information, in fact, that I have a good feeling that it will help to tale a little of the “Oh, God! Where’s the instruction manual!” feeling out of the process.

On the back of the DVD case, Amy and Eric Chasko (new parents) are quoted as saying, “We can actually see what to do and not read about it in another 200+ page book.” That’s the very appeal that drew me to this in the first place, and it did not fail to deliver that.

3 Stars Rent or borrow instead
I am expecting my first baby in 6 weeks and I have a ton of questions on baby care! Although ABC’s of Newborn Baby Care is comprehensive in terms of the range of topics (from choosing a pediatrician to car seat safety), the time spent on each topic is very brief. You may find you’ll have more questions in the end than you started with after watching this DVD. The script and acting are also kind of cheesy.

In comparison, Laugh and Learn About Newborn Baby Care was more engaging and entertaining to watch. However, it only covers Bathing, Diaper Change, Dressing, and Swaddling.

There are pros and cons to both DVDs. There are tips and techniques included in one that are not in the other. My suggestion is to rent or borrow instead. I got both at my local public library and I’m waiting for another DVD from Netflix, Bringing Baby Home: The Ultimate Baby Care DVD. Afterwhich, I’ll decide which DVD I will purchase to keep as reference.

1 Star Not useful at all
Maybe if you’ve never held a baby or truly are clueless about ANYTHING involving baby care it’ll be tolerable for you. But those who need that much help will need something that actually goes into detail. For instance, the nursing part of the program is so short and only talks about a few things and doesn’t even show a baby nursing. They actually even go through the steps of picking up a baby! It’s pretty irritating and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

5 Stars best potty book
my daughter is 2 and loves to read when we first read this book she wanted nothing to do with it but the next few times she was totally into it and now she is all for the potty book its very cute in rhyme and fun for younger children helps them see they can be proud of themselves for peeing on the potty and doesn’t just nag them that they should go…

4 Stars Great Book
This is a great book and we read it while we are sitting on the potty waiting for something to happen.

4 Stars OK. But not Great
I have seen better potty books. This one is ok. Writing should be bigger to read to child.

4 Stars My daughter loves this book!
This book is really cute and my daughter is very into the pictures and asking questions. She calls it her “Hannah book”. It’s to the point and a quick read, but gets the message across well I thought.
